Last night I went with Dani, A-Lo and Mr. Burbank to go see Where the Truth Lies, and afterwards got to hear Ariana Huffington moderate a panel which included Atom Egoyan (the director) and Kevin Bacon, who is in the movie. The movie was ok, although I get the feeling that I probably liked it the best, and I was really just lukewarm on it. It's going to be unrated since the MPAA gave it an NC-17 rating and they decided to go without a rating instead, and the rating is strictly for sexual acts. It was surprising it got that rating though because there wasn't really much in it that I don't think I hadn't seen in rated R movies before. Whatever, the MPAA is a bunch of tight-asses. Anyway, after the movie came the panel, and it was downright dull. In additon to the people mentioned above there was also the producer and Snakes on a Plane's own Rachel Blanchard (although you may remember her from the 80's TV series "War of the Worlds", since I'm sure everyone saw that). Most of the panel was basically the director droning on and on about who knows what. It was rather warm in the theater and I was having trouble following him, although he did use a couple SAT words like "pastiche", which really got the crowd excited. Speaking of excitement, here's today's quiz:
Update - Nobody's guessed it yet so here's the next clip:
Update #2 - Much talk of Steven Segal, but no guesses, so here's another clip:
Update #2 - I suppose it was only a matter of time before Lambro established his dominance in the quote game, and he's now got three wins in the last week. Who's gonna stop the streak? The answer's in the comments, and here's the rest of the clips:

Can I guess all Cheech & Chong movies, or do you need a specific one?

If it was a Cheech & Chong movie, I would need you to name the actual movie to win. However, it's not a Cheech & Chong movie, so in this instance the point is moot. To help out I've put up another clip :smile
By the way, did anyone else notice yesterday that the Yankees were eliminated from the playoffs? :biggrin

I saw it last night at a different screening (but the same panel spoke afterwards). I also liked the movie, but didn't love it. But I do think Atom Egoyan is some kind of genius, especially as a writer. "Exotica" and "Felecia's Journey" are both great creepy movies, and "The Sweet Hereafter" is one of my favorite movies period. Although it's also really depressing.
And from the genius of Atom Egoyan to that other cinematic auteur, Steven Seagal: link
Side note: I don't really think pastiche is an SAT word.

I'll give him this: he certainly was really dull when he spoke last night. After rambling on about his background in operas or something (it was hard to pay attention, so I could be wrong), he suddenly realized he'd been droning on uninterrupted for about 3 or 4 minutes and he said "oh wow, I'm just babbling", and then proceeded to resume rambling on for another couple minutes. I felt like one of those kids from Ferris Bueller's Day Off who were just sitting there in a daze as Ben Stein was lecturing on the Holly-Smoot Tariff and Voo-Doo Economics. You know what I coulda used last night? One of those Stephen Segal energy drinks that Mr. Krue linked to:
By the way, I put another clip up.

Did anyone see Atom Egoyan's movie about the Armenian genocide? I don't even know what it's called. Always wanted to see it...even though I can't recall the name.
Oh, and my guess is:
"Tremors"
"Tremors 2: Aftershocks"
"Yellowbeard"
"Tin Cup"
"Born in East L.A."
"Shrimp on the Barbie"
I'm sorry. I'm laughing too hard and can't continue. Just the thought of "Shrimp on the Barbie"...
:lol
