Fortuitous Break

Yesterday was pretty damn cool. I worked for a couple hours, and then we had a power outage, so we decided to go to lunch (ironically we had decided to go to the Philly cheesesteak place, which we were at the last time there was a power outage). As we left the parking lot, we noticed that it seemed that it was a big power outage with traffic lights out and whatnot, so we turned right around and went back to work and decided to eat at the Mexican place across the street, which oddly enough had power. Apparently there was a big outage, but it stopped after our block, so it was just far enough to kill everything at our building. Well, we ate lunch and went back and the power was still off, so we just hung out for a while, and then at 2:30 they told us all to just go home! This was very sweet, as you can imagine, and I took advantage of the early release. I decided that the time had come, so I went and bought myself an iPod nano over at the Grove, and I got the requisite RCA to mini plug so I could use it with my car stereo. I then went to Circuit City and had them hook it all up (I woulda done it myself but they needed to take my dashboard apart just to plug in a damn RCA cable). Then I came home and charged my nano and put a bunch of music on it, so now I'm an official iPod owner. I guess this means the extremely small number of people in LA who don't have either an iPod or a cell phone just got a little smaller. Anyway, here's today's quiz:

elvispanda:

"dogma"? sounds like affleck and damon.

welcome to the joy of the iPod. One of us, one of us...

and yesterday ruled. we all needed that.

Yams:

You are correct!

About yesterday ruling anyway, but you're wrong about it being Dogma. I put another clip up to help out :smile

elvispanda:

that's not damon it's wahlberg. "the big hit"?

Yams:

I can neither confirm nor deny that. But what I can do is give you another clip, and shockingly, that's what I've done :smile

drew:

This one I got just with just the last clue...I'm that good.

Actually, I'm really not. It's just that Giovanni Ribisi has a VERY distinct voice, and Nia Long's line was memorable. Besides, I'm a huge fan of hip-hop stock broker flicks in which Ben Affleck tries REALLY hard to be Alec Baldwin...and fails. Great flick, though.

Yams:

Well Drew, even though you didn't specifically name the movie, I think it's pretty clear you were referring to Boiler Room, and you are correct! I put up the rest of the clues for anyone who's interested :smile

fhqwhgads:

Didn't see it. That always makes me feel better. I also have to write that in the comments to protect my reputation as the guy who has nailed it three times out of the thirty or so times this game has been up.

Yams:

I can't believe there's a Vin Diesel movie you haven't seen, Lambro. And you call yourself a fan :nono
