What's everyone going to see this weekend? I kinda want to see Elizabethtown & Domino, bot both are getting absolutely hammered on the Tomatometer (28% & 14%, respectively). Cameron Crowe and Tony Scott are both directors who have had some genuinely fantastic films, but some bad missteps as well. I'm sure I'll get out and see at least one of these this weekend. What else is really pulling people to the theaters these days?

My wish list of current and upcoming films include: Elizabethtown, Capote, Jarhead, History of Violence. It's not in any discernable order. I have the same apprehensions you do about Elizabethtown, but without a doubt I know there will be some good things in it. Have you seen History of Violence? You may have posted something about it, but I probably missed it.

I saw A History of Violence with J. Krue a couple weeks ago. I couldn't remember if I blogged about it, but I did a search and apparently I did (check the 2nd to last paragraph, if you're actually curious). I think I'm probably gonna see Elizabethtown this weekend, and then on Monday I'm going to a screening of Jarhead with Sam Mendes speaking afterwards. Then the following Monday I'm going to see Capote with Phillip Seymour Hoffman speaking afterwards. I'm most psyched to see Jarhead out of those three movies though, cause the trailer makes it look really good (kudos to you, John, for putting that link on your blog way back when :smile). Also next week I'm going to see Walk the Line, and I've heard really good things about that.
Can I just say I love the Arclight and their Variety screenings? :biggrin

I want directors to stop wasting good roles on Orlando Bloom. Yes, he's very attractive. Put him the cover of every magazine you can find, dress him as an elf and keep him in the background, but stop putting the brakes on potentially good material with this sign post. "Kingdom of Heaven" could have been something really special if there were something other than a black hole in the middle of it. There are so many good actors walking around and this space heater is getting all the work. It's just a damn shame. I want to see "Kingdom of Heaven" with Garreth from "The Office" in the lead. Now that would be kick ass.
Bitches, man. I gotta go.

That's right, I forgot about Walk the Line, Yams. I like James Mangold's movies. I also don't want to forget about "Good Night, and Good Luck." That looks really good. Plus, the subject matter is so fascinating.
I kind of agree with the take on O. Bloom. He's good eye candy for the ladies, but outside of his long distance stare in LOTR, I don't think he can hold a movie.

BTW, Elvispanda, the name of the actress you're looking for is Jennifer Love Hewitt. Not sure where to rate her, as she's got a pretty face and a great body, but her laugh is annoying, a la Cameron Diaz.
I do have a rather funny anecdote about meeting Hewitt almost ten years ago when Party of Five was on the air though. :lol

And I'll rank Keira Knightly and Kirsten Dunst before going to bed:
Keira Knightly: :thumbsup
Kirsten Dunst: :thumbsdown
I think Keira and Natalie Portman should do a movie together. The fanboys, myself included, would love it. :lol

The hardest thing about being a dick is trying not to be, and right now I'm Brad Pitt staring at Kevin Spacey with a box behind me.
