Yikes

Well, the Lakers are getting absolutely hammered in Game 2 right now, with 2 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, the Lakers are now down by 30 points. During the regular season, the Lakers had 3 small forwards. One of them didn't play very much this season (Tracy Murray), and he got left off the playoff roster, which was the right thing to do... at the time. In the first round the Lakers starting small forward (Rick Fox) got hurt and is gone for the rest of the playoffs, and may even have to miss most of next year. In Game 1 Devean George got hurt, and he was the Lakers second string small forward. So now the Lakers have no small forwards, and I don't know if that's what the problem is tonight, but they are just getting killed. I gave the refs the credit for the Spurs winning Game 1, but I give the Spurs credit for winning this one (if the Spurs do go on to win, which lets face it, is going to happen unless the Lakers pull off the greatest comeback in NBA Playoff history, and they do it on the road against a superb defensive team). The series isn't over, don't think I believe it is. The Spurs have just held home court advantage. But clearly the Lakers need to come up with some big performances, and fast. Losing both small forwards the Lakers had has really become a very limited team. The Spurs can very easily just focus on Kobe and Shaq and not worry about anyone else beating them, at least, that's what's happened in this game. But the Lakers are a resilient team that often times waits till their backs are against the wall to step up and play like they can. That time is here, so either they will step up, or their run of championships is over... for now.
