Lakers - Spurs in Round 2

The Lakers looked good again tonight, and won pretty handily, so LA will advance to play the Spurs (who also advanced by winning their Game 6 against Phoenix tonight) in the second round. The Spurs beat LA 4-0 this year during the regular season, but that means absolutely nothing now. Its playoff time, and in the last two years the Lakers are 8-1 against San Antonio in the playoffs, including 4-0 against the Spurs in San Antonio. The Spurs are a good regular season team, but they can't handle the pressure of the playoffs against LA, and I expect LA will win, and they'll probably win easier than people would think. LA starting these games on the road actually gives them somewhat of an edge I think, because LA is usually very good at getting that first game (I could be wrong, but I think they've only lost one Game 1 in their three championship runs, and got Game 1 against Minnesota, making them 12-1 in Game 1's over the last 4 years). If LA can go down to San Antonio and get that first game, I think the Spurs (who already have the Lakers firmly embedded in their heads) might wilt under the pressure of failure again and might give up Game 2 as well. If that happens, we're talking sweep, cause the last time the Lakers won those 2 on the road against the Spurs, the two home games (Games 3 and 4 of the 2001 Western Conference Finals) were won by 39 and then 29 points by the Lakers to complete the most lopsided sweep in Conference Finals history. Gotta give the Timberwolves some credit for fighting real hard and for getting two games I didn't think they would get. But its the playoffs, its take no prisoners, and its time to move on and hopefully take care of the Spurs :-)

Stockton, Seal and BT

First off, I want to say thanks to John Stockton. For those who don't know who he is, he was a basketball player for the Utah Jazz for 19 seasons. I say "was" a player because he retired yesterday. He retires as the NBA all time leader in assists and steals. While I hated him as a Laker fan (and Dennis Rodman once singled him out as the "dirtiest player in the league"), I think he is one of the best examples in all of sports of a guy who played the game the way it should be played with none of the bullshit that goes along with it. Stockton was not flashy in any way at all, he didn't like the celebrity that went with being a professional athlete, he wore shoes that were a couple years old because they were effective not because they looked great, he negotiated his own contracts with the owner, and never asked for a ton of cash, and more than anything he just loved to play. In 17 of his 19 seasons he played in all 82 regular season games, so that shows how tough and durable he was. Just a great, solid player who was arguably the most down-to-earth sports figure in the last 20 years. He even gave his "retirement speech" while cleaning out his locker, and it lasted about 20 seconds, and it went approximately like this:

Stockton: "I just told the guys I'm moving on."
Reporter: "So are you retiring?"
Stockton: "Something like that."
Reporter: "How excited are your kids that you're going to be able to spend more time with them?"
Stockton: "I don't know."
Reporter: "What will you miss the most?"
Stockton: "I don't know." Then as his voice started to crack with emotion he said almost in a whisper "That's all, thanks." With that he walked away.

Love him or hate him, you gotta respect him. More people should be like him. He got the job done with no bitching or whining, and no ego or glory, none of that bullshit. Pure class all the way.

Man, my little Stockton tribute got kinda long there so the rest of this will be short. I tried to get Matrix tickets today, but was foiled at every turn, so it looks like we're all probably gonna get tickets to see it on the 15th instead of the night before on the 14th, just so we can see it at the Mann's Chinese. Tonight I met Jon at the Apple store at the Grove where we briefly met Seal and then watched BT show us how to make unbelievably cool music with just an Apple powerbook and a keyboard. We briefly spoke with BT afterwards, he was a very gracious and cool guy, and Jon got pictures taken with both him and Seal (check his blog in the next few days for that, whenever he puts them up). Then Jon and I grabbed some good Italian food for dinner and called it a night.

Speaking of calling it a night...

What a Saturday!

Man, what a great day :-) I woke up at around 10ish today when I got a call from John, asking me if I wanted tickets for "XMen 2" or not at the Mann's Chinese Theater at 7 or so. Anyway, I couldn't go because I had agreed to go to see BT who was performing tonight at Spundae, and we needed to get there at 8 or 9 to make sure we could get in. So anyway, Grover, Jon and myself decided to go to the 4 pm show at the Mann's Chinese instead. Those guys showed up here at about 3, and off we went. Well, as probably can be expected, there was an enormous line, but we ended up getting pretty good seats anyway, and we settled in to watching "X2". Lemme just say: WOW! Man, that one blew the first "XMen" movie away, and I liked the first one. This one was a much more mature film, much more intense, just really better in every way. It was all I could have hoped for from the sequel to "XMen", and more. I will be going to see that again soon. Oh yeah, I also was able procure tickets for "The Matrix Reloaded", also at the Mann's Chinese at 10 pm on the 14th (that's the night before its officially released :-)

Anyway, so after "X2" we came back here to my place and hung out for a bit before we had to go to Spundae. Once we got there, it was a kickass good time. Nothing like seeing BT two nights in a row ;-) This time it was a much different atmosphere, of course (a nightclub vs. a computer store). I got some great pictures too. Anyway, check below for some pics from the last two days:

TNT Sucks

So here I am all jazzed for the Lakers-Spurs game. This year the NBA made a new TV deal so that any games in this round that are on TNT are ONLY on TNT (whereas in years past the local stations could have carried them). So what happens? Every channel I have is working fine except, you guessed it, TNT. So I'm sitting here with a blank TV screen sitting on TNT just in case it comes back. In the meantime I've got the game on the radio, but its really not the same. What a bunch of shit this is :(

Ridiculous

You know how I felt that the Lakers really got a gift from the refs in Game 3 against the Timberwolves, and that I was glad that the Lakers lost that game because the officiating was so bad? If I was a Spurs fan right now, I would be ashamed that the Spurs won this game. You only need to look at the difference in the number of free throws that were shot tonight to see how unbalaced the officiating was:

Free throw attempts for San Antonio: 35
Free throw attempts for Los Angeles: 12

Now sometimes the number of free throws will be a little skewed one way or the other. Usually its surprisingly close. But this is really absurd. The Lakers shot more times than San Antonio did, to boot, so it wasn't like they weren't getting any shots. There were a number of things that were really disturbing regarding the officiating. Shaq fouled out (which he only did a few times all year), and on the other end Shaq only had 6 free throw attempts. Kobe Bryant, meanwhile, took 38 shots, and only got to the free throw line FOUR TIMES. The Spurs meanwhile, had a rookie who comes off the bench, Manu Ginobili, take only 9 shots and still get 8 free throw attempts, twice what Kobe had. The amazing thing about all this is that the Lakers still had a shot to win the game, even with them being clearly on the wrong end of some bad officiating, with Shaq fouling out, and with Rick Fox out hurt and Devean George going down with an ankle injury too. If the Lakers can just get a fair shake from the refs, they should be able to beat the Spurs.

So I'm annoyed, of course, but the positive I take from this is that the Lakers won't shoot that bad every game, there (hopefully) won't always be such a huge discrepancy in free throw attempts, and Shaq will not usually foul out. Given that all happened and the Lakers were down 3 points with 10 seconds left, how can I really be that upset? I'm mostly upset about Devean George being hurt, but maybe its not as bad as it looked.

I fully expect the Lakers to win Game 2.

The Lightsaber Kid

This is without question one of the funniest things I've seen on the web. Thanks to Waxy.org and Daypop for showing this one to me. Ok, its two clips you gotta download to get the full effect. What happened was some kid apparently taped himself doing THIS (save target to download and watch that one first), and when it got out to the internet, those with the knowhow and sense of humor turned it into this:

Save target for video

Absolutely classic :-)

If you have trouble saving those links, go to this page and you can get them there. Trust me, its worth it.

Yikes

Well, the Lakers are getting absolutely hammered in Game 2 right now, with 2 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, the Lakers are now down by 30 points. During the regular season, the Lakers had 3 small forwards. One of them didn't play very much this season (Tracy Murray), and he got left off the playoff roster, which was the right thing to do... at the time. In the first round the Lakers starting small forward (Rick Fox) got hurt and is gone for the rest of the playoffs, and may even have to miss most of next year. In Game 1 Devean George got hurt, and he was the Lakers second string small forward. So now the Lakers have no small forwards, and I don't know if that's what the problem is tonight, but they are just getting killed. I gave the refs the credit for the Spurs winning Game 1, but I give the Spurs credit for winning this one (if the Spurs do go on to win, which lets face it, is going to happen unless the Lakers pull off the greatest comeback in NBA Playoff history, and they do it on the road against a superb defensive team). The series isn't over, don't think I believe it is. The Spurs have just held home court advantage. But clearly the Lakers need to come up with some big performances, and fast. Losing both small forwards the Lakers had has really become a very limited team. The Spurs can very easily just focus on Kobe and Shaq and not worry about anyone else beating them, at least, that's what's happened in this game. But the Lakers are a resilient team that often times waits till their backs are against the wall to step up and play like they can. That time is here, so either they will step up, or their run of championships is over... for now.

The Lakers Come Back To Win!

Just kidding. They didn't even make it respectable.

Final Score:
Spurs - 114
Lakers - 95

The Willhelm Scream

A couple years ago (actually, probably closer to 10) I was watching some movie, I think one of the Star Wars original trilogy or the Indiana Jones movies, and I noticed a scream sound effect used, and then noticed it again later in another movie. I thought it was weird to hear the same scream in more than one movie (this was before I was even aware that stock sound effects are used in most films), but it made me take note of this scream, and I remembered what it sounded like. I then began to notice it popping up in other movies as well. LOTS of other movies. Eventually I did learn about stock sound effects, but this particular scream always seemed so out of place to me, that I had to wonder if there was any kind of back story on it, but how do you investigate it (this was probably before I had ever used the internet, actually)? Well I remember when I came to my present job, one of the girls working there had worked at Lucasfilm doing sound editing (or something similar), and I asked her about it. Surprisingly to me she said she sort of knew what I was talking about, that it was some kind of sound-guy inside joke or something, but she wasn't too sure. Well the other day I heard it in a movie at work (can't say which one, of course) but a couple co-workers were standing there and I asked if any of them knew what the deal was with this sound. One of the girls said she knew a little about it, but wasn't too sure about the details. Well, about a half hour after that she emailed me with two links about it, and I was floored to find out about this thing. It's evidently known officially as the "Willhelm Scream", and has been used in dozens, if not hundreds, of movies. Its become sort of like the calling card of Ben Burtt, who did the sound design for the Star Wars and Indiana Jones movies (amongst other things).

This website here has some of the history on it, and a rather long list of a bunch of the films its been used in. This website has even more about the scream. After doing some searching I found a clip of the sound (click here to listen to the scream). Finally, on top of all that, I even found that some guy had made something of a montage of a lot of the video footage from movies where this sound effect is heard. Its 48 megs to download, so it will probably take a while, but if you're curious at all, its pretty funny. Click here to download it. So at the end of all this, I was pretty pleased to find out that on my own I'd picked up on this little known thing as something of a sort of inside joke in the film industry. I know, its lame, but still kinda funny, huh?

Friday Night Excitement

Its Friday night, I just got home from work, and guess what I wanna do?

Go to bed.

I dunno what it is, but I'm fucking beat. The Laker game's on in like 10 minutes though, so I'll watch that and then we'll see.

Lakers Take Game 3

Man, well that was a fun game to watch, but very very tense. Anytime your team is basically on the edge, every game is gonna be tense to watch. Luckily the Lakers came out to a huge opening lead and never really looked back. The Spurs got within 6 points once I think, but the Lakers then pushed it back up to a big lead and led by double digits for most of the game. Honestly, as bad as things looked the other night when LA lost Game 2 to fall behind 0-2 for the first time since Phil Jackson took over as coach 4 years ago, the Lakers are now actually in a better position after Game 3 in this series then they were after Game 3 in the last series. LA is still down 1-2 in this series, but in the last series after Game 3 they did not have the momentum because they had just lost two straight. Now at least they'll head into Game 4 on the heels of a huge win. LA can NOT give an inch here though, they must come out in Game 4 with the same sense of urgency that they had tonight. One of the Spurs' main weaknesses is that they are a mentally fragile team. Their confidence can be easily shaken, and if LA can win Game 4 as well and even the series, then the doubts from years past will have to begin to creep into the Spurs' collective heads. Then all it will take is a superior effort by the Lakers in Game 5 back in San Antonio and the Lakers could take the lead in the series. If LA wins the next two, then the Spurs will fold in Game 6 back here in LA. But I'm getting WAY ahead of myself. LA is still one loss in Game 4 away from being completely on the ropes here, they MUST have a win in that next game. Good job tonight though. Gotta say, I'm no longer tired

Final score:
Lakers - 110
Spurs - 95

Another Good Saturday

I had another good Saturday today. I got up today and had a message from Chris wanting to get lunch, so I called him and we decided to go see Dave and get lunch in Pasadena. So I picked up Chris and drove us out to Dave's and we went to Crown City Burger for lunch. Then afterwards we went to the Paseo in Old Town and we bumped into a guy who lives in Chris' building who was giving away passes to this movie The New Suit. He asked if we wanted to go, and even though none of us had heard of it before, we figured why not? It turned out the movie was pretty funny actually. It completely made fun of the film industry and how fake and ridiculous it is, which is always a good thing. Anyway, after that we went and hung out for a bit, then we dropped Chris off and Dave and I went to Tower where I bought a couple DVDs, then we went back to Dave's place and watched "Catch Me if You Can", which I really enjoyed for the second time. Anyway, that was my Saturday

Lakers Tie It Up!

To be fair, the free throw attempts played a big part in this win for the Lakers, but since they were the reason the Spurs won Game 1, I don't have any shame in the Lakers getting a huge advantage in free throws in this game. I'd really like to see the refs just call it even for the rest of the series and let the teams decide it. In any event, its a tied series, and the fact that LA has won the last two games has got to work on the confidence of the Spurs a little bit. Game 5 is a must win game for the Spurs, and its pretty close to that for the Lakers too. I felt going in to today's game that the team that won Game 4 would win this series because I figured the Lakers couldn't come back from 3-1, and the Spurs confidence would be shaky enough to let the Lakers get Game 5 if they lost 2 in a row. We'll soon see.

Star Trek Fans Are Insane (Literally)

Ok, here's a link to a story about a psychiatric hospital in Oregon that is seeking an English-Klingon interpreter, because they are getting a number patients who refuse to speak anything other than Klingon. For those who don't know, Klingon is a race (and name of their language) of people from the Star Trek TV shows and movies. Its a made-up language created for some dumb show, and people are adopting it as their real language? I guess all you can say is anyone who does that deserves to be in an insane asylum, so at least those people are in the right place.

Nervous Time

I'm mainly making this entry to get my mind off the game for a second. The Lakers are down 2 with the ball and 14 seconds left in the game. If I wasn't doing this I'd be pacing back and forth all over my apartment right now. LA was down by 25 points in the second half at one point, by the way. Ok, more on all this in a bit.

Lakers lose a heartbreaker

Robert Horry who has hit so many clutch shots in his career had a wide open look at a 3 point shot and it rattled in and out, hitting the rim 3 times before bouncing out. Horry has not hit a 3 pointer in this series, and he's only hit two 3 pointers this whole playoffs. The Lakers needed some magic tonight and just did not have it. Gotta respect the effort, coming back from 25 points down in the 3rd quarter on the road and coming a couple inches away from winning this one. LA still can win this if they take the next two, just like they did last year in the Western Conference Finals. I'm glad to see the effort, just a little bit short. Trust me, I'm crushed by this one.

Reloaded

First off, I just realized I have no idea why "The Matrix Reloaded" is called "The Matrix Reloaded." At the same time, I have no idea why "The Matrix Revolutions" is called "The Matrix Revolutions," but I haven't seen that movie yet, only seen a preview for it.

Will I give a full review for "Reloaded"? No. Why not? Cause you should see it for yourself. But I'll tell you a bit here. First, yes I liked it. Its an extension of "The Matrix", and not just the matrix part of it. I think its a good movie for true fans of the first film, who want to see more of "the real world" and want to see what Neo being "the one" means. That's pretty much all I'm gonna say, except for this: even if you don't like the story, don't care for the actors or the acting, didn't like the first one or whatever, the visual effects alone are worth the price of admission. Sure the whole movie is not made up of those effects, but even if everything else rubs you the wrong way, I'm sure you'll be impressed by at least two scenes. So there you go. I'll probably have more to say about it when I go see it again, which will not be until it is released in Large Format (IMAX) in another 2 or 3 weeks.

PS - For those who would say (or have said) "its too comvoluted" or "its too complicated" or "I don't want to think that hard during a movie" (which is really what the first two statements mean anyway): boo fucking hoo. If you don't like a movie that is impressive visually as well as one that requires you to concentrate, then too bad. Go see it again and maybe you'll get some more of it the second time or the third time around. I KNOW there were things I missed, that is why I'll go see it again. That's what you do with good films after all, isn't it?

The Laker Run Is Over

Not a good way to bring a championship streak to an end. The Lakers were considered by many to be a lock to win this Game 6 tonight and instead they got blown out at home to bring an end to a troubled season. The previous three years were great, but this one really sucked for most of the way, and this game tonight was, sad to say it, fitting. Gotta give the Spurs credit, and they'll be a force for a while because they'll probably be able to pick up a big free agent in the offseason with their salary being what it is. Hopefully the Lakers can also pick up someone decent this year to keep the dynasty going, or else (god forbid) who knows if Kobe Bryant will return after next year. I don't even want to think about that though. Well Lakers, the last 3 years have been great, take this summer, rest up, get angry, get the hunger back and come back next year like you give a shit. Ok?

On the plus side, at least I'm not gonna be stressing about them anymore for another 5 months or so.

Kobe

You know what, one more thing. They just interviewed Kobe after the game, and you could see tears in his eyes and you could hear the emotion in his voice, especially when he said this summer he would push himself to exhaustion to try to bounce back from this. Let me just say this: I am glad to see that at least ONE of the Lakers cares more about them winning than I do, not that I ever doubted Kobe's desire. I just wish more of his teammates shared that.

Sleepy Time

Man, the two late nights the last two days have taken their toll. I had a hell of a hard time waking up today. Well, I would have had a hard time except that when I got up to put my alarm on snooze I kicked a fan I have sitting on my floor and gashed open my little toe. So since it was bleeding a lot and I was in a lot of pain, looked like any extra sleeping was out of the question, so I bandaged it up and got ready for work. What a nice way to start the day, huh? Anyway, I was sleepy all day, and I'm sleepy now, so nighty night everyone :-)

This Should Be a National Holiday

My good friend Chris Grover was telling me how some friends of his were throwing a party in June, and how they were trying to decide on different themes. He said they asked his opinion and he said something to the effect of "themes are stupid, just have the damn party." So evidently they decided to make the party the 'F Chris Grover Party' and he said they plan to make it an annual event. Now I think that's fucking funny. But to top it off, they made T-shirts for the whole thing, and you can buy them here: F Grover Shirts

Further Insight into How Deep the Rabbit Hole Goes...

Don't know if you've seen "The Matrix Reloaded" yet, but if not you should. Anyway, as I stated in my entry last week about the movie, if you were confused by it, see it again. I've talked to a bunch of people about it so far and it does seem like there is a lot of confusion about what was going on there, especially in the end of the movie. If you've seen the movie, then by all means read this, because it is a masterful analysis of the symbolism of the movie and just a good explanation about what exactly happened, specifically what The Architect and Neo were talking about, and what it meant and what it will mean. Really a great read, I would say its a must read for someone who saw the movie once and plans to see it again. Don't read it if you haven't seen the movie yet, obviously, unless you like to have the plot spoiled for you.

In other Matrix news, I read online today that there is a rumor that "Reloaded" will be released in Large Format (IMAX) on June 6th. That's unconfirmed though, and nobody's selling tickets for it on that date yet, but rest assured I will be checking regularly and will be getting tickets as soon as they're on sale. I can't wait to see it again, but don't want to risk ruining the IMAX experience by seeing it too many times before seeing it there. This will serve as a test run for me, because "The Matrix Revolutions" will be released simultaneously on both Large Format and the standard 35mm theater prints, so I am gonna wanna know which is the preferred way to view the movie. I'm guessing it will be on IMAX, but you never know.

A little more movie news for you, "Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" will be out for sale on DVD on August 26th. This is the 2 disc version which will have a 10 minute look into "Return of the King." The 4 disc version of "Two Towers" will be out on November 18th. This 4-disc version will feature a new cut of the movie with an additional 43 minutes of footage, bringing the total running time to 3 hours, 42 minutes. That means with both of the first two parts and their full cuts, the first two-thirds of the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy is running at somewhere around 7 and a half hours. Once the whole thing is there (November 2004, presumably) the full running time should be somewhere in the neighborhood of 11 and a half hours. Wow.

Video Game Frustrations

Thanks to Overstated.net for this one. You ever played a video game and become incensed by what was going on? Well if not its probably because you've never played a video game before. Its my experience that few things are as frustrating as playing a video game and not doing well at it (see this article if you doubt me). Anyway, evidently there is this new game out there called "Counter-Strike" which is just the sort of video game that inspires these high levels of frustration. Naturally this frustration leads to a lot of swearing. I now turn this over to Overstated.net for the rest of my entry:

"So, the story goes that co-worker A got sick of co-worker B's constant profanity whilst playing Counter Strike. Co-worker A then hid a microphone next to co-worker B's desk, and captured this stream of rantings. Then, as co-worker A was a member of an electronic music-making concern, he endeavored to edit it all together. The end result was this: The Terrible Mr. G."

Listen to that thing, it is especially hilarious

Vegetarians Rejoice!

Too fucking bizarre. Evidently some scientists in the UK have developed trees that grow meat. Yes, I'm totally serious. Get this:

"We take the genes from cattle that produce key proteins and splice them into the reproductive cells of grapefruit trees," he (Dr. Vincent Tartley) says. "When the seeds mature into trees, instead of producing ordinary citrus fruit, the pulp contains meat. You get the flavor, texture -- even the smell."

Those who've sampled the meat agree it tastes like the real thing.

"I was a bit skeptical at first when I sank my teeth into a hamburger after they told me it grew on a tree," says Londoner Mark Basker, 41, who participated in a consumer taste-test. "But it was juicy and delicious -- nothing leafy about it at all."

More Matrix Stuff

The more I read about "The Matrix Reloaded", the more appreciation I have for that movie, and as you know I liked it to begin with. Now there is a website with the whole conversation between Neo and The Architect transcribed so you can read it. That in and of itself was fascinating, but since I got that link off of FARK, there was naturally a message board about it, and from what I read earlier it was a pretty damn interesting and deep discussion about what was going on in that movie, and speculation about the next one. Once again, if you've seen the movie, I can't reccommend both of those links to you enough, because they're truly fascinating. I really am a fan of a movie with that many subtle touches, because I know that as I watch it more and more I'll have all new thoughts and questions about it each time I see it. Still no word on the official IMAX release for it yet, by the way.

Congrats to Co-Workers

Well today I was at the wedding for one of my co-workers, Rika-jovi, and her husband Shawn. The wedding was held up in Santa Barbara, so I caught a ride up with the Bells. The wedding was very nice, definitely "my style" for a wedding (meaning it was quick and casual lol). It was quite touching, actually. Anyway, afterwards the reception was nice. I always enjoy "extra-curricular activities" with my co-workers, cause we all seem to get along really well, and its just nice to hang out with them without having to worry about work and all. Well anyway, in addition to Rika's wedding today, my office-mate Nick and his wife Zoe gave birth to their first child this week, Julian, their son. So I just wanted to wish both couples the best of luck with their families and wanted to give them my congratulations

I came across this on FARK and thought it would great to put up here. Its a webpage that has something like 100 commercials from the 80s that you can download. My personal favorites were the commercials for C-3PO's, the Rambo action figures, Pitfall and Leonard Pt. 6. If you grew up in the 80s (like I did) or remember TV from that era, the site's definitely worth a look.

Ah Yesss...

Man, it was a long week for a short week, know what I mean, jellybean? Hardly seemed like I had a moment's peace all week. But hey, that's what the weekend is for, right? You're fucking a right it is! Ok, my plans for the weekend are pretty much as follows: sleep a lot and stay the fuck away from everyone Naw, in all seriousness I do hope to hang out with some friends here and there, but I really am going to just kick back and relax. God, is anything more satisfying than that?

To Infinity and Beyond

So as you may know, I'm not a big fan of Pixar movies. See, I do own both of the "Toy Story" movies on DVD, and I like them, but I just can not stomach "A Bug's Life" or "Monsters Inc." This is due to severe overexposure of "A Bug's Life" while I worked at Good Guys years ago. I used to sell cell phones (by the sea shore Never mind me, I'm an idiot), and the cell phone department was located right next to a large wall of big screen TVs. Anyway, I guess they figured that showing a colorful, vibrant movie like "A Bug's Life" would help sell the TVs, so that's what they did. On an endless loop. All day, every day. So rest assured, I got sick of that damn movie pretty quick, cause even though I wasn't like sitting there watching it all day (like I would be at my current job), nothing will kill a movie quicker than having it loop start to finish 4 times in a row right next to you 5 days a week (oddly enough, they later did the same thing with "Wing Commander" and that movie seemed to get better after seeing it for like the 50th time or something, but that was probably because it was so bad to begin with that it had nowhere else to go but up). So anyway, when "Monsters Inc." came out, I went to see it because they were running the first teaser for "Episode 2" before it, and I wanted to see that. I really did not like "Monsters Inc" cause unlike the "Toy Story" movies it was JUST for kids. There was no adult context in "Monsters Inc.", it was just a child's movie. And that's fine and all, you know, I mean Barney shouldn't be meant for grownups either, but because its not I don't like Barney. Anyway, so because of my distaste for "A Bug's Life" and "Monsters Inc" I'm probably not gonna ever go spend money on a Pixar movie again, including "Finding Nemo". Ok, now with all that being said, here is a rather hilarious review of "Finding Nemo", enjoy.

Ok, Koga Got Me Good

Thanks to Koga for this one:

About a week ago I took that "Which Matrix Persona" Quiz, but since the results said I was Neo with the description of "a perfect fusion of heroism and compassion" I knew that the result was #1 corny, and #2 bullshit, so I didn't post it here. Koga, on the other hand, took the same quiz, got the same results and DID post them. Now, they're as untrue for him as they are for me, so Jason and I both called him on it, and I added that somebody should Photoshop Koga's face onto the picture of Neo, much in the same way was done with this photo. Koga had two responses to this. First, he took 10 more silly quizzes in the next day or two, and second he put MY face on Neo instead, see for yourself:

"That's a nice trick."
